In industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and bio-fermentation, the safety of sealing materials for production equipment is paramount. Whether it's aseptic filling lines, fermenters, or food-grade pumps and valves, correctly selecting validated food-grade sealing materials is the fundamental prerequisite for eliminating contamination risks and ensuring product purity and consumer health.
Currently, the most mainstream and reliable food-grade packings:
White pure polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) packing: Woven from 100% pure PTFE fibers, it contains no harmful additives. Its natural chemical inertness, extremely low adsorption, and excellent corrosion resistance allow it to safely contact various foods, acids, alkalis, and cleaning agents without contaminating the media. It is ideal for rotating or reciprocating parts such as valves and pumps.
How to choose? Based on the specific medium being contacted (acidic, oily, alcoholic), temperature, and pressure, choose the more suitable one from the two main materials mentioned above. Request and review the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Declaration of Conformity to confirm that the material composition has been certified according to FDA CFR 21.177.1550 (for PTFE) or relevant sections.
